BRi would like to update our clients in relation to the current BMSB season which commenced on September 1, 2018. Our previous bulletins in relation to this issue outlined the affected countries however the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) have informed industry they are now undertaking a low rate of random onshore inspections from identified emerging risk countries.

 

Containerised goods selected for random inspection will be sent for a full unpack at a DAWR approved depot upon arrival as the DAWR continues to monitor the risk status of emerging pathways.

 

Identified emerging risk countries include Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and Serbia. DAWR are also targeting other countries of BMSB concern to monitor the presence of BMSB. These include all remaining European countries, Japan, China, Korea, Canada and Chile.

 

Please be aware that imports from any of these countries may be subjected to random unpacks and inspections at any time during the BMSB season which covers any shipments departing origin prior to April 30, 2019.
