We have received notification from Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) Pty Ltd of recent developments as follows:

DPW AUSTRALIA (DPWA)

‘As reported in the FTA member notice on 19^th September; DPWA advised that the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) it will not be taking industrial action of any kind at their Port Botany terminal before 1 November 2020’. ‘Without the distraction of bans and limitations, we anticipate we’ll be ale to progress outstanding local matters at DP World Sydney in pursuit of a finalized enterprise agreement’.

HUTCHINSON

FTA reached out to Hutchison Port executive who recognized the adverse impacts of industrial action. They are confident that with further negotiations they will soon be able to address outstanding areas of concern and return to a regular and reliable service offering.

PATRICK

FTA also contacted a Patrick Executive and found that ‘their Port Botany operations are quickly becoming more gridlocked with ‘58 thousand TEU in the system’ and ‘by the end of the week the delays at Port Botany will be out to 18 days’.

‘Patrick indicated that they cannot operate at anywhere near capacity as a result of Protected Industrial Action (PIA) that includes i) ban on the performance of upgrades and higher duties; ii) ban on the working of overtime; iii) ban on the working of extensions; iv) ban on the working of vessels that have been subcontracted by other stevedoring companies; and v) ban on the performance of work on Project Sabre.’
