Dear Valued Customers

The Maritime Union of Australia (MUA), are recommencing protected industrial action, this time at Patrick terminals across Australia.

Patrick Terminals’ Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) expired on 30 June 2020. Over the last six months, Patrick Terminals has been negotiating in good faith with its employees and their nominated bargaining representatives, the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) for a new Enterprise Agreement.

As previously advised, the MUA lodged a Protected Action Ballot Order (PABO) with the Fair Work Commission. The PABO requests employees covered by Patrick Terminals’ EBA to vote if they will support Protected Industrial Action. On Wednesday, 26 August 2020 the results of the vote were confirmed as yes. 
 
The MUA notified Patrick Terminals of its intention to take Protected Industrial Action. The details of this action are listed below;
 
Patrick Terminals - Brisbane AutoStrad 

• A ban on performance of upgrades and/or work in higher levels (except for Leading Hand Lasher) from 07:00 am Friday, 4 September 2020 for an indefinite period;
• 1-hour stoppages at 07:00 am, 03:00 pm, and 11:00 pm each day from Friday, 4 September for an indefinite period;
• A ban on performance of work on vessels that have been subcontracted or outsourced to Patrick by another stevedoring company from 07:00 am Friday 4 September 2020 for an indefinite period. 

Patrick Terminals – Fremantle 

• A ban on the working of shift extensions from 07:00 am Friday, 4 September 2020 for an indefinite period;
• A ban on the working of overtime from 07:00 am Friday, 4 September 2020 for an indefinite period;
• A ban on the performance of work on the vessel Margaret River Bridge for a period of 24hrs commencing at 07:00 am from Friday, 4 September 2020;
• 24-hour stoppage of work commencing at 07:00 am Friday, 4 September;
• A ban on performance of work on vessels that have been subcontracted or outsourced to Patrick by another stevedoring company from 07:00 am Friday, 4 September 2020 for an indefinite period.
   

Patrick Terminals - Sydney AutoStrad

• A ban on the performance of work on Project SABRE (Port-side Rail Project) in Port Botany commencing at 06:00 am Friday 4 September 2020 for an indefinite period;
• Ban on performance of upgrades and/or work in higher levels from 06:00 am Saturday 5 September 2020 for an indefinite period;
• 4-hour stoppage of work commencing at 12:00midday on Friday 4 September;
• A ban on performance of work on vessels that have been subcontracted or outsourced to Patrick by another stevedoring company from 06:00 am Friday 4 September 2020 for an indefinite period.  
   

Patrick Terminals – Melbourne

• 8-hour stoppage of work commencing at 07:00 am on Monday 7 September;
• A ban on the performance of work on the vessel Maersk Semakau for a period of 8hrs commencing at 07:00 am from Monday 7 September 2020;
• Ban on performance of upgrades and/or work in higher levels from 07:00 am Friday 4 September 2020 for an indefinite period (not including G2P’s allocated to driving a straddle or the position of leading hand lasher);
• A ban on the working of shift extensions from 07:00 am Friday, 4 September 2020 for an indefinite period;
• A ban on performance of work on vessels that have been subcontracted or outsourced to Patrick by another stevedoring company from 07:00 am Friday 4 September 2020 for an indefinite period.
