In recent days, we have received several notifications from shipping lines revising their current conditions of offer for “free time”for container returns. Depending on the carrier, we are seeing reductions as low as 7 days for free time. Whilst this is related to traffic from South East Asia to Australia, we can foresee this potentially being applied to all trade lanes due to a stronger demand for repositioning of equipment back to origin ports.
